Got hit in my school's parking lot. A couple chunks of paint are missing and there's a good scrape. Needless to say, I'm frustrated by people's carelessness. No note. Guess I'm lucky for going nearly 3 years with this car and no battle scars in Northern Virginia

2011 VW GTI. Not fancy by any stretch, but I hate when people crush my hopes and dreams!

Totally blows. If I've learned one thing about life in this country, it's this: if you have something nice that you love and take care of, the asshole general public will ruin it for you; it's only a matter of time.

Fact: my previous car was hit 4 times while parked. I never so much as put a scratch on it myself.

Why I park in the back of lots, might look like a douche, and have to walk further. But no scratches.

Sometimes I hate people. Sorry Raymond.

When I get a car I personally dent it so I don't have to worry about someoen else doing it for me.

My truck bed is partially caved in cause I kicked it one night in anger, dumb yes, but now I don't worry about someoen else hitting my truck and ruining it for me.

I was going to guess Hatch WRX 2009+ ha. Hey any car that is that age, is more than just any car =) Its also a privilege. Sorry to hear about your dent. I got rear ended not too long ago, I feel your pain.

I almost exclusively do this, but my school's lot is always full and the spaces tight. It's a lose-lose situation.

None in this garage to speak of, that and security has no access to them for liability purposes.

That MIGHT actually be the smartest approach. I don't think I can bring myself to do that to the M though. No, my fate is to suffer the constant anxiety of wondering what sort of dodge caliber dickbag is parking 3 inches from my door for no earthly reason. That car is a gift and a curse.

I've had my car for less than a year and it's already been hit 3 times while parked. One of them was my neighbor who left a scratch on my bumper and still had red paint left on his car so I made him pay for the damage. The other two times I was lucky enough for it just to be paint transfer which the claybar did quick work of.

Make the dent in a discreet place where only you know of it.

Take a nail for example and tap it so as to leave a tiny dent.

Put it inside the door jam or something.

It doesn't have to be an obvious one.

I've always seen it as a way where I don't have be anxious parking my Cobalt SS near some junker in a parking lot

Lol. I see. Just a little dent somewhere to relieve the pressure? I like that. =)

Exactly.

It relieved pressure when I got the cobalt.

I'ts been hit in parking lots and what not but I don't really care.....I mean I do and it sucks but I don't get worked up over it anymore.

My wife has a 2010 GTI in NOVA. It looks like it's been through a warzone. Looks like you're much better off so far. She has literally seen clients hit it 3 times in her work parking lot then take off. The worst though was at Tysons...she came out and someone had obviously impacted her front right pretty hard. Not much damage to the quarter panel but the wheel was completely toed and cambered in.

Going over a year in Northern Virginia without any kind of damage is an astonishing feat. People are complete morons up here.
